PE Funding

For a number of years now the Government have allocated funding directly to all primary schools to support the provision of quality PE/sport.  We use the PE funding to enhance the quality our PE provision and opportunities for our children which includes the following activities;

Hire a specialist PE Sports coach - Mr Nathan Kirk

We have bought into the services of First Grade Coaching for 1 day per week. Mr Nathan Kirk, our designated sports coach, will be in school all day Wednesday. Over the year Nathan will deliver games and a range of physical development activities. Nathan will also work with our PE subject coordinator, Mrs Jordan, to train staff and further develop the planning and assessment  in school, giving specialist advice where needed.

Hire a specialist Martial arts teacher for Year 2

The children in our Year two take part in regular Martial arts sessions to support their physical skills alongside their attention, concentration and focus.  Staff are learning these technical skills alongside the children.

Provide specialised individualised training for staff

Staff are completing a skills audit and will have bespoke training to support their teaching of all elements of Physical development and Physical education.

 Provide further PE opportunities.

We ensure that children have access to high quality PE provision through;

  • After school clubs
  • Football coaches
  • Balance bike sessions
  • Dance coaching

These strategies were adopted throughout 2015/16 and have ensured children have developed core stability and strength, building confidence and resilience and met their end of year expectations.
