Picture 1

Welcome to Year Two...the home of the Perky Penguins and Terrific Tigers...

In the Perky Penguins you will find Mrs Jordan (the class teacher) and sometimes Mrs Downes and Miss Rothery (Teaching Assistants). In the Terrific Tigers you will find Miss McMahon (Deputy and SENCo) and Mrs Robinson (class teachers). You will also find Miss Walker and Mrs Downes and Miss Rothery.

On a Monday we do Martial Arts with our sport's coaches Jamie and Joash from JJBA. They teach us new moves each week and we are aiming for our first belt by the end of the year!

On a Wednesday our sports coach Tasha teaches us PE.

We need our named PE kits in school on both of those days please.

In Year 2 we work really hard to improve our reading and we need your help by reading 4 times a week at home and recording this in your child's reading diary. Diaries will be kept in school and checked on a Thursday night.

Homework - A new sheet will be in your child's homework book on a Friday. Please have this back in school by Wednesday so that lots of PROUD points can be earned.

Our new topic is Maps, Magic and Mystery!

We will be learning about PIRATES! using the book The Pirates Next Door by Jonny Duddle.

Our Autumn Term topic is all about ANIMALS! We learn about a new text every few weeks and our English and topic work is all based around this.

One of the books we have learnt about so far has been The Disgusting Sandwich!

Check out the pictures of us re-enacting the story...

We have been learning about the story of Superworm.

What could Superworm turn into next?...Year 2 have been creating their ideas...

We have been very busy creating a 'The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe' themed Christmas tree for the Christmas Tree festival at Stapleford Methodist Church. We always create a tree to be part of the festival and this year's theme was 'Christian Authors'. The children have enjoyed being artistic in the classroom and also visiting the festival to see all of the other trees that people have made. A big thank you to Mrs Hudson for her artistic direction with this project

A BIG WELL DONE to all of the children for performing so well in our Christmas show! You were a joy to watch!

The Terrific Tigers loved performing their drama pieces based on a book called Lost and Found

Each week during martial arts, our coaches choose children who have worked extremely hard to wear the special belt! Well done to these belt winners from Terrific Tigers...
