Phonics and Reading

Our vision for Reading and Phonics at William Lilley:

At William Lilley we are determined for all children to be readers. We support every child to

  • rapidly learn the phonics skills that they need to read successfully

  • gain a thorough understanding of what they read

  • develop a wide vocabulary

All staff share and actively promote a love of reading with the children, sharing quality texts for learning and enjoyment, in appropriate ‘reading friendly’ environments.
